Preparing with us
LES gives you a comfortable setting in groups of up to 3 learners, to master the finer points of the exam and the material you need and to fill your gaps. In the classroom and outside it you have many real exam papers to get used to the format.
Small groups guarantee that the teachers have a clear view of your progress and your weak points. Working hand in hand with learners means a higher success rate and an individual approach: you will not get lost in a large group, you get individual attention and advice that fits your needs.
- We work with small groups of up to 3 people, so we can start courses for this certificate every week, shaped by the goals and results to be reached.
- The length is not fixed: the course covers not only the course book and workbook but also mock exams, so that you get used to the format and the features of each part. Anyone can choose to continue with practice tests for as long as they see fit to reach the result they want.

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)
The SAT is one of the best-known standardised admission tests in the world, used by universities and colleges for applications to bachelor’s programmes. Its results serve as an objective measure of applicants’ academic preparation and of their potential to succeed in higher education.
The test assesses key skills for university study: critical thinking, analytical ability, working with texts, mathematical literacy and problem solving. For decades the SAT has been an established international standard that gives students from different education systems an equal chance to apply to prestigious universities around the world.
What is the SAT?
The SAT is a standardised test taken in digital form, intended mainly for students in the final years of secondary school. It is widely used for applications to universities in the United States, and by many higher education institutions in Europe, Canada, Asia and other countries.
It measures not so much what candidates know of particular school subjects as their ability to analyse information, think logically and solve practical problems – the skills that decide success in an academic setting.
What does the SAT include?
In its current digital format the SAT has two main sections.
1. Reading and Writing assesses students’ ability to:
- understand and analyse texts of different genres;
- extract and interpret information;
- evaluate arguments and logical connections;
- apply rules of grammar and language;
- edit and improve texts;
- understand the meaning of words and phrases in context.
The tasks are short texts followed by multiple-choice questions. The emphasis is on critical thinking and on working with academic texts.
2. Mathematics assesses skills in areas such as:
- algebra;
- linear equations and functions;
- data analysis and interpretation;
- probability and statistics;
- geometry;
- solving practical mathematical problems.
The test checks not only mathematical knowledge but also the ability to apply it in real situations. A calculator is allowed during the mathematics section.
The format of the test
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Format | Digital |
| Length | About 2 hours and 14 minutes |
| Main sections | Reading & Writing and Mathematics |
| Question type | Mostly multiple choice |
| Highest score | 1600 points |
| Lowest score | 400 points |
| Scoring | 200–800 points for each section |
An adaptive test
One feature of the digital SAT is its adaptive format. Each section is split into two modules. How a candidate does in the first module decides how difficult the tasks in the second module are. That way the test measures each participant’s knowledge and skills more precisely.
Why does the SAT matter?
A good SAT result can greatly improve the chances of admission to prestigious universities and of scholarships. Many institutions use the score as an additional criterion alongside secondary school grades, motivation letters, references and extracurricular activities.
For international applicants, the SAT is a way to show their academic ability by one international standard, whatever their national education system.
Advantages of the SAT
- An internationally recognised admission test.
- Used by thousands of universities around the world.
- Opens the way to applying for academic scholarships.
- Assesses skills that are key to success in higher education.
- The digital format makes the test shorter, more convenient and more adaptive to the candidate’s level.
- Lets students compare themselves with university applicants from all over the world.
The SAT is much more than an admission test: it is an international tool for assessing students’ academic potential, and often the first step towards some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Good preparation and a high score can open the way to competitive programmes and to substantial financial support in the form of scholarships.
